B&N's Original Nook Wireless Ebook Reader Gets Ready For Battle With Amazon's Digital E Book Reader
The contemporary Nook wireless book reader being sold by Barnes and Noble, the worlds main high street book stall with over 1,300 branches, seems set to lock horns with the worlds #1 selling digital books reader, the Kindle.
Though not long released, the Nook electronic book readers are looking to unsettle Amazon's feathers even more by taking it on directly in a part of the marketplace, that up to yet, the Kindle has dominated. Since it's introduction, initially as the Amazon kindle then later in February 2009 as the Amazon kindle 2 , it has re-ignited the ebook reader marketplace by offering a mix up of innovative technology, because of it's immediate connect anyplace wireless networking and also the chief selection of books available for download at terrific, cheaper than the high street, price point.
No doubt after going through ebook reader reviews, customers brought in to the concept in a large way and it is just recently that the rest of the trade have woken up to the fact that this is the expectations of book purchasing. An so in the most recent couple of months we have had the statement from Sony of their intention to enroll in the fun, with their soon to be unveiled Daily Edition, and the latest press release from B&N that their own competitor, the Nook, will return to full production very soon.
There are no uncertainties that the Kindle2 is the reader everyone is gunning for. And to be frank it's pleasant to see a little competition in this sector. Yes we have had the iRex iLiad but the ebook readers reviews disliked it because it was some what on the large side to be a revolutionary wireless reading device, perfect for workplace use with the 1:1 A4 facsimile, but much like the Amazon dx - another wireless book reader - not something you would want to take on holiday, or put in your handbag or pocket for that matter, and it was in no way going to compete on cost was it?
Subsequently now we have 2 big companies keen to go head to head, with the might of Amazon kindle, on all fronts. Sony in recent times increased the magnitude of their collection at the Sony-Store and discounted the price point of their digitally delivered books to go with that of Amazons and hopefully Barnes and Noble, who have always been in the equivalent ballpark price point wise, will equal them title for title too.
And the main news broadcast for consumers has to be the shift away from proprietary file formats used by Sony corp. in the initial days and in spite of everything used by the Kindle now. To explain the position I will use Kindle2 as an example, bear in mind this is even now the situation with the Kindle so it makes it clearer.
