These parrots could grow to the average length of fifteen inches though females are a little smaller than males. Yellow headed Amazon parrots have a stout, hooked beak that isn't just used for breaking the hard shells of seeds and nuts but also for clasping, exploring, and climbing. They also use their paws to climb and it is almost like another hand for them. Amazons have two toes directed forwards and two toes directed backwards that make them perfect for grasping.
